Composition

Composition is music related.

A teaching session begins with a presentation by the teacher, in which several sound samples – from the Beatles to John Cage – are used as illustrations.

You will learn dynamics, timbre, melody, arrangement, ethnicity, instrumentation, improvisation, genre, film and advertising music and much more.

Depending on the topic the classes will sometimes take the form of lectures or discussions and will often result in a task.

Students are divided into groups of 2-4 and will face the tasks of analysing or creating a piece of music based on the lectures and discussions. Each class concludes with a display and exchange of student’s experiences from the day’s work.

Composition is a forum for all. It is a good forum for experienced composers who want inspirations, just as it is an excellent forum for those interested in expanding the music horizons.

Composition takes place simultaneously with the song writing and audio engineering for beginners elective classes and there is therefore the possibility for cooperation between the three electives.
