Timetable for the dance line

Genres you will be learning during the dance-course:

Jazz
Jazz is the basis of many other genres and will equip you with the knowledge needed to learn more from these. We emphasise technique, where basic steps are rehearsed over and over to enable you to gradually build your skills. We will also be working with stage-presence and body-language in varied choreographies.

Show Dance
Many of the steps are taken from Jazz, but in show dance there are no limitations and everything is possible. Emphasis here is on presence and expression in the choreographies. You’ll develop your performative skills and your -personality.

Contemporary/new dance
Inspired by many different techniques within contemporary dance, such as Limon, Graham, release, floor-work and Flying Low, we will work on building a strong and varied basic technique. Emphasis is on flow, going into and coming off the floor and proper breathing.

Improvisation
Through fixed structures and specific tasks, we will work with various movement principles and -qualities in improvisation. You will get the opportunity to explore your own movements and your body’s possibilities to find out what is most interesting for you. We will also be working with group dynamics in improvised movement.

Contact-improvisation/partnering
This is where we focus on dancing with each other. We will be working on improvisation while maintaining physical contact with one or more other dancers as well as the creation of physical dialogue and specific lifting and partnering techniques.

All of this is useful in both improvised and choregraphed material.

Eurocrash/Dance-theatre
In Eurocrash, we will be working with more extreme movements, using lifting, jumping and simple acrobatics as well as working with objects and inner pictures to create the basis of movement.

Examples of this genre can be seen in the English company DV8 or the Danish company Mute-Comp.

Other things of general importance
As a dancer, it is important to have a physically strong body and during your stay you will also experience training through stretching and strengthening exercises, yoga, running and other disciplines to help your body adapt to the physical challenges you will encounter as a dancer.

It is also vitally important to maintain a good and healthy diet. During your stay at the school, the kithcen staff will ensure that the food is varied and nutritional so that your body is properly fueled. Our kitchen matron has been trained as a dietitian and will gladly answer questions or guide you when it comes to eating correctly.
