Emilia Gasiorek works as a dancer and choreographer in her own name, both in cooperation with and for others. Based in Copenhagen, she graduated from London Contemporary Dance School, with an exchange semester at The Danish National School of Performing Arts. Her work often deals with speculative fictions, imagination as a choreographical site, and place and trace of the body across different mediums.
Her work has been shown in the UK, Sweden, Netherlands, and Denmark. She was awarded the Deutsche Bank Award for Creative Enterprises and has been an artist in residence at Volksroom, Brussels.
She is a part of DANSEatelier, a collective of 11 dancers, choreographers and friends sharing a studio in Copenhagen. This group shares a vision for creating continuing, shared authorship and exploring practices around dance and choreography.
Through DANSEatelier, she works on the curation of a festival and the hosting of different events. She also works with and for various choreographers and visual artists including Yvonne Rainer (US), Pablo Bronstein (UK) and Eva Recacha (UK/ES).
